New Clarinet Album : "Loved Ones"
We had a great trip to New Orleans in April. It made me really want to play more jazz clarinet, and that's what I have been doing - and recording. In July, I spent two days in the studio with jazz pianist Dirk Van Den Linden and bassist Jean Van Lint. The result was 12 tracks, 3 originals, the rest jazz standards.
You can hear a few tracks in the player at the right of the page, and for a limited time you can download a copy of all 12 tracks here (right click and "Save As"). The tracks are in mp3 format.
If you download, I ask you to give me a little feedback in return (drop me a line via the contact form):
- What are your 3 favourite tracks?
- What are your 3 least favourite tracks?
- Is the album too long? Too short? Just fine as it is?
- Any other comments you might want to make.
So, get them on that ipod, and have a listen! I hope you enjoy the music.
Here is the link to download all 12 tracks in one 42MB zip file (takes about 1 minute to download for me). Right click on the link, save as. When it is downloaded, unzip and the files are in the folder.
Mariona Meets DanMcB
I have a new CD coming out later this year with singer Mariona (www.mariona.be). The title will be "Mariona Meets DanMcB". Mariona has a beautiful voice, wonderful phrasing, and it is a lot of fun to work with her. I'd call the style "Country Soul". It will be a mixture of duets and songs with a full band. In April we were in New Orleans and Nashville, where we did quite a few nights on the songwriters circuit there, with some pretty good responses.
You can hear one of the songs (Wounded Bird In A Shoebox) in the player on the right. You can hear more at www.marionadanmcb.com
Claudia made semi-finalist at Song Of The Year
The title track Claudia made semi-finalist with the international Song Of The Year competition 2010. I am pretty happy about this, as it is the first time I ever entered something like this. According to the email I received:
" ... "Claudia" did extremely well in the contest as it received the Semi-Finalist placement in the contest. The Semi-Finalist placement is the highest songwriting placement next only to the one winner and four finalists. Receiving this placement indicates you were just a few points away from the Finalist placement. Only the top writers receive this placement."
